"I am becoming more and more impressed at how useful I am finding TA as a serious aid to post processing. I am not talking about the over the top HDR-like images, but in providing an extra dimension to 'photo-real' images.
By using the usual trick of applying TA to a copy of the background layer; adding a layer mask and filling the mask with black, you can paint the effect back in using a mid opacity white brush. I tried the various sharpening presets (crisp, clarify, portrait drama) and was able to accentuate cheekbones, and creases in clothing etc, as well as get some very nice additional sharpening to the eyes and hair.
TA has become a routine part of my workflow now, and used with restraint, there not many shots it can't do something to improve. It is also a lot quicker and easier than the multiple curves layers I used to use, and I can usually get what I want with two or three TA layers."
