1. Installation

Due to host program requirements, Topaz Enhance™ must be installed in the specified directory.  You must select the correct directory in your next installation screen as described below. Fail to do so may cause Topaz Enhance not working properly.

For After Effects 5.x, it must be installed to:

   <After Effects Installation Dir>/Plug-ins/

For After Effects 6.x, it must be installed to:

   <After Effects Installation Dir>/Support Files/Plug-ins/

For After Premiere Pro 1.x, it must be installed to:

   <After Effects Installation Dir>/Plug-ins/

For Eyeon Digital Fusion, it must be installed to:

   <DigitalFusion Installtion Dir>/AEPlugIns/

If you have more than one host program to use Topaz Enhance™, you only need to copy the “topazlabs” directory inside the installation directory to the proper directories described above for each host program as initial installation.

2. Compatibility

Topaz Enhance is a set of video enhancement plug-ins (Windows only). It has been tested to be compatible with:

·         Adobe After Effects 5.x, 6.x, and 7.x

·         Adobe Premiere Pro 1.x and 2.x

·         Eyeon Digital Fusion 4.x

Since different host programs have sometimes quite different behaviors, you should read the related sections in the document very carefully.  This is especially important for Adobe Premiere Pro users. For example, you must set the preview window zoom at 100% to get the correct preview for some filters.

3. System Requirements

Some filters in Topaz Enhance™ are very computation-intensive. Even through the software can run on all Intel and AMD processors, it is optimized to perform best on processors with SSE/SSE2 extension, e.g., Pentium 4. Even so, it is recommended that you have at lease 2.0GHz CPU to have acceptable performance.

4. Changes from V1.0

Topaz Enhance V2.0 contains all the filters of V1.0.  However, filter names and parameters are changed to make them more intuitive. Therefore, your previous project files will not work with V2.0.

If you still need to use the previous project file, please do not un-install Topaz Enhance V1.0.  You can use both of them at the same time.

Here are the name change:

·         Topaz Cleaner (RGB) -> Clean (RGB)*

·         Topaz Cleaner (YUV) -> Clean (YC)*

·         Topaz DeBlock -> Remove Compression Artifacts

·         Topaz Edge (RGB) -> Sharpen Edge (RGB)

·         Topaz Edge (YUV) -> Sharpen, Fix Color Bleeding

·         Topaz Sharpen (YUV) -> Sharpen, Line Accent

Topaz Enhance V2.0 adds the following additional filters:

·         Deinterlace* - high quality de-interlacing

·         Double Resolution* - super-resolution based up-scaling, capable of producing near HD quality video

·         Denoise & Enhance* - not only reduce video noise but also enhance clarity and details

·         Wavelet Filter – noise suppression, edge correction and enhancement
