    Default Auto Duplicate Layer

Photoshop - Why not have Topaz Plugins create a Duplicate Layer when launched from the Filter Menu?

Saves one step for the user.

    Thanks,
    Bill

Personally I think that creating a duplicate layer is the responsibility of the user.

Yes, especially since I usually have several layers and the plug-in wouldn't know which one to duplicate.

I cannot access the URL, but this is my suggestion: Make the "Ok" button in the plugins sensitive to whether Alt/Meta is pressed. If pressed, create a new layer, otherwise apply the filter to the selected layer. (Make sure that the text on the "Ok" button is changed if the key is pressed - see Camera RAW)

I think this feature would be helpful because sometimes I find great settings and then realize that I forgot to clone the layer.

It would create a new layer with the treatment and a layer mask just like Nik and OnOne does. It allows adjustment after processing. Elements doesn't support masks does it ?

No, it does not. I tried some freeware patches but they don't work well at all.

I support Topaz a little bit in Germany because there are some of them not able to understand enough english.
I had recently been some questions whether it would be possible to set up something like NIK-Software have.

For me personally it is not so important because I'm always duplicate my pixellayer I need to have a filter on. And I also change the layer to a smart object. But many who work with NIK, are used to select this option in the Plug-In.

It would be just one less step in what could be a long post processing session, Especially if you create a bunch of adjust layers.

I have to agree that having Topaz automatically dup the active layer when you open Topaz would be great. I sometimes forget to dup before I open Topaz then go back and start over. I do a lot of masking to layer below so always work on a duplicate layer. I also use multiple Topaz settings on one image along w/masking. It is no big deal but I would find function handy.
