My guess is speedlights on the ground with another one high camera right.

But the shadow on the left hood collar (picture-side, his right) indicates that the source is from high/right side (from the perspective of the picture taker)....or am I missing something?

that could be the sun, was using a 'voice activated flash on monopod' and that was high to my left
