    Default Before and After

I took this shot at my nephew's football game. I'm hooked on Topaz Simplify! I incorporated this shot, many others and some video into a YouTube video. You can see it at YouTube - Guts and Glory - Travis Wilmath plays football

These were taken by my wife while visiting Las Vegas....point and shoot camera. I dropped them into Details and they are now some pretty snappy snapshots....

    Default Smokey

This is our little boy Pomeranian named "Smokey". The image need some help because he was moving and I wasn't using a flash, so there was some image blur. I also was using a high ISO setting to try to allow for a quiker shutter speed.

The image includes work on three layers:

The background layer is used mostly for the eyes and tounge, which were masked out of the other layers. I used deNoise on the background layer to take care of some noise from the ISO 800 photo. I used Adjust and ramped up exposure compensation an lowered highlights to darken eyes and tounge.

I used Simplify on the next layer, adjusting all levels until I got the amount of "painting" and color desired. Masked out eyes. Set opacity for this layer at 90%.

I used Clean on the final layer, again adjusting all levels until I smoothed things out as desired. Masked out eyes and tounge. Set opacity for this layer at 15%.

Guess I'm a frustrated artist. No patience for the real thing, but do love doing the digital art. This was done using Denoise, and 2 runs in Simplify.
