Topaz Photoshop Plug-ins

The Topaz Photoshop plug-in bundle features a set of advanced and powerful tools - each offering a solution to some of the most common (and often challenging) post processing tasks. The bundle lineup offers tools and features for creating pseudo HDR effects, adjusting color, exposure and detail, reducing noise and JPEG artifacts, masking and extraction, increasing smoothing and sharpening, creating artistic masterpieces and enhancing natural detail and tone.

With Topaz, anyone can easily and professionally perfect any image. The advanced technology infused in each of the Topaz programs minimizes time spent during the post-processing process, allowing users to achieve advanced imaging techniques quickly while optimally enhancing photos. Convenient, effective and dynamic results are possible with just a few clicks.

  Topaz Simplify

The basic Topaz workflow goes as follows:

1. Bring an image in Topaz from your host program.
2. Apply an appropriate preset.
3. Adjust the settings or fine-tune using the sliders.

That's it! The third step, which is optional is great for adding a finishing touch, but this isn't always necessary. Many times just using a preset will give you optimal results.

1. Import Image

The first step in the Topaz image enhancement process is to import your photo into Topaz from your workflow. Topaz is fully integrated with the most commonly used software, so often you won't have to make an extra trip to an external editor or even change your workflow at all to use it. Supported workflows include:

• 

  Photoshop

  Topaz plug-ins are primarily designed for Photoshop. Accessing any Topaz program in Photoshop is as easy as navigating the menu to Filter → Topaz Labs and select the Topaz program you want to use.
• 

  Lightroom

  Topaz is still easy to use even if you're using Lightroom for Mac or Windows. Simply right click any photo and select Edit In → Topaz Fusion Express and then select the Topaz program you want to use from the Fusion Express menu. (Requires the free Topaz Fusion.)
• 

  Aperture

  Like Lightroom, Topaz programs are also easy to use in your Aperture workflow. To enhance your images, go to Photo, select Edit In → Topaz Fusion Express. Then select the Topaz program you want to edit with from the Fusion Express menu. Aperture will automatically create a new non-destructive TIFF file where edits will be placed. (Requires the free Topaz Fusion Express add on.) See setup info here.

  iPhoto / Paint Shop Pro / Others

  Topaz plug-ins are also compatible with a host of other editors like iPhoto, Paint Shop Pro. Even if you don't have dedicated editing software, you can still use Topaz plug-ins with other free image editors like IrfanView.

2. Use Preset

Each Topaz program comes with a set of presets that can act as a great starting point for any photo. Often, using a single preset will be all you need to optimally enhance any image.

The big advantage to having presets in each program is you get the best results with just a single click. You can even create and save your own presets. No more fiddling with sliders or trying out different combinations of settings for every image - simply select a preset and get instant results.

3. Fine-tune Settings

After applying a preset to your image you can then go back and fine-tune the effect using the sliders. The sliders offer intricate control over the adjustments made to your image. When fine-tuning, it is best to make adjustments gradually and in progression from the top. Each program offers various sliders, modes and other tools key to the Topaz enhancement process. Details on some of those features are also reviewed below.

In addition to fine-tuning, the sliders can also be used as the main controls for image enhancements. If desired, you can skip the presets and make adjustments to your image only with the sliders. Or you can also create and save your own presets.

All of the Topaz bundle programs, except for ReMask, feature the above interface and workflow.

Reviewers

Here's the information to help you get started with your review:

1. Download the software.

Each product can be downloaded from the Downloads page. After downloading the software from our site, install it by running the downloaded installer.

The installation is different for Mac and Windows, but both have a HowToInstall.pdf document located immediately within the downloaded package. You can also download the Getting Started guide located at the bottom of this page. If you have any questions or problems with downloading the software, please contact us.

3. Experiment with the software.

Most of the Topaz programs have presets that instantly apply predefined enhancements that many people like to use. Presets, however, only offer a very limited view of the true functionality and ability of Topaz products. We recommend that the presets only be used as a starting point for most images, or not at all; adjusting the sliders is just as fast and gives much better and more tailored results.

The sliders are intuitive and easy to understand. Sometimes subtle adjustments are the best kind.
