Upscaling 2x doubles an image's width and height, so it ends up with four times the pixels. Topaz for Web does it in a few seconds with AI that rebuilds edges and texture instead of stretching them. A 1920 × 1080 image becomes 3840 × 2160, true 4K.

How it works
01
Upload a photo or graphic. Topaz for Web opens with the image upscaler selected.
02
Select your desired upscale settings.
03
Export the 2x file. Keep photos as JPEG for sharing; save graphics as PNG so edges stay crisp.
What’s different
At 2x, every new pixel sits next to three real ones. The model builds from plenty of real detail, so skin, foliage and fabric stay believable instead of looking painted.
2x turns 1920 × 1080 into 3840 × 2160, the 4K UHD standard. It is the go-to factor for wallpapers, slides, thumbnails and screen captures that need to hold up on a 4K display.
At 300 DPI, a 1600 × 1200 photo prints at about 5.3 × 4 inches. Upscaled 2x to 3200 × 2400, the same photo prints at about 10.7 × 8 inches.
The Topaz for Web Image plan exports up to 32 MP, so the largest image you can upscale 2x is about 8 MP, roughly 3464 × 2309. Larger photos need a Pro plan or Topaz Gigapixel.

Pro users can apply the same settings in the Topaz Video and Topaz Photo desktop apps.

It doubles the width and the height. A 1000 × 1000 image becomes 2000 × 2000, four times as many pixels. AI upscaling fills the new pixels with reconstructed detail rather than copies of nearby pixels, so the result looks sharp instead of blurry.
Yes. 2x is the exact factor: 1920 × 1080 becomes 3840 × 2160, the 4K UHD resolution used by most 4K monitors and TVs.
Topaz for Web exports up to 32 MP on the Image plan, so the largest 2x input is about 8 MP, around 3464 × 2309 for a 3:2 photo. A full 12 MP phone photo needs a Pro plan or Topaz Gigapixel. [confirm current limits]
Use 2x when the image is already decent and you need a cleaner, larger version. Use 4x when the source is small, such as a web image or an old camera file. Smaller factors keep the result closer to the original.
Yes. Switch the model to Text & Shapes, which keeps letter edges and flat colors clean. Export as PNG so compression does not soften the edges again.
